Features and Highlights

The Musical Fidelity A1 Integrated Amplifier is an iconic Hi-Fi classic that was first introduced in 1988. Despite its low power, it gained popularity for its remarkable ability to drive difficult speakers. Built with pure Class A topology and high-quality components, the A1 delivers excellent performance.

Featuring an updated transformer with "dual mono split rail" windings, the A1 reduces noise and dissipates heat effectively. It boasts fully independent power supplies, double supply capacity for each power amplifier, and filtered main supplies for improved regulation.

Music enthusiasts praise the A1 for its ability to produce a sweet, warm, and full sound without any harshness or grain. It excels in small to mid-sized rooms, particularly when paired with high-quality two-way speakers. Despite its lower power, the A1 effortlessly drives difficult speakers while maintaining a clean sound even at its power limit.

The A1 has undergone multiple reissues and new versions, but the 2023 release remains faithful to the original 1988 rendition. With an output of 25W of pure Class A power at an 8-ohm load and a maximum output of 25A, the A1 delivers impressive performance. Notable upgrades include the addition of a "direct" switch to bypass the gain block, a premium ALPS RK series potentiometer for volume control, and a motorized volume potentiometer with a remote control.
